Germany will expand toll collection

In Germany, as part of the process of centralizing and expanding toll collection, new rules will apply from 1 July 2018. The number of kilometers of tolled sections for trucks with a total weight of 7.5 tonnes or more will increase by 40,000 kilometers. Carriers will pay tolls on a total of 55,000 kilometers of first-class motorways and state roads.

In addition to the existing toll gates on motorways, new control posts will be installed on all first-class roads for automated toll control. The terminals for manual toll payment will also change. 1100 new generation terminals, the replacement of which has already begun, will be installed at 600 locations. It will now also be possible to book tolls for your route via the mobile application. The on-board units (OBUs) will display the number of axles and the weight of the set instead of the price.
